RECOGNIZE THERE IS A PROBLEM
You’ve probably heard people say, “the first step to fixing a problem is admitting there is a problem” or something like that! Your brand likely didn’t head south on its own. You need to dig into the situation and see exactly where the problem began. Are your sales people over promising? Is your fulfillment team under delivering? Getting to the root of the problem is paramount! Here’s a simple tool to help you figure out what exactly is going on. It started out in the manufacturing world, but can be applied to just about any industry. It’s called the “5 Whys”. Try putting this to work for you!
FIND THE HAPPY CUSTOMERS
Even if your brand has taken a beating, you’re bound to have happy customers out there. Find them and put them to work for you. Customer reviews on third party sites like Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc., can work wonders for building potential customer’s trust. A 2015 article on Business2Community.com indicated that 72% of people polled said positive reviews make them trust a local business more. There are many ways to solicit reviews, but the best way, in our opinion, is to just ask your clients. Many people are happy to do it, but you must ask. Don’t assume they’ll do it on their own.
GET INVOLVED WITH CAUSES YOU CARE ABOUT
It’s always a good idea to give back to your community. It can be beneficial to rebuilding your brand as well. When the community sees your business involved with causes that make a difference, they’ll likely take note. Remember, the community you help could very well be the community that uses your product or service. Word of mouth is powerful, we all know that. How about connecting your brand with a local cause that could provide you with positive feelings? And you’ll be doing something for your community at the same time….we call that a “win-win”!
